Cellcolabs treats first patient in its Phase 2 knee osteoarthritis study, building on promising earlier results in one of its priority indications.

Stockholm, Sweden, 2026.06.22 — Cellcolabs today announced that the first patient has been treated in its Phase 2 clinical study evaluating mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy for knee osteoarthritis (OA), conducted at Burjeel Medical City in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The study advances the company's clinical program in OA, building on encouraging results from earlier-phase research, and is sponsored through the company's subsidiary, Cellcolabs Clinical.

The study represents the next step in Cellcolabs' clinical development in osteoarthritis — an area where the company sees particularly strong potential for stem cell therapy, and where clinical promise and growing interest increasingly converge. Building on encouraging findings from earlier-phase research, the Phase 2 study is designed to deepen the evidence base as Cellcolabs focuses around selected indications and scales its platform.

The Phase 2 study evaluates MSC therapy across a set of clinical endpoints in knee osteoarthritis, focusing on pain as well as knee structure and function.

"Treating our first Phase 2 patient is an important step forward for Cellcolabs," said Vincent Metzler, PhD, Chief Executive Officer of Cellcolabs. "Osteoarthritis is one of several areas where we see strong potential for stem cell therapy, and progress like this reflects the focus and momentum across the organisation as we continue to advance our studies and strengthen the evidence base behind our platform."

The study is now enrolling. Reaching first-patient treatment marks the next stage of an ongoing clinical program, and the company will provide updates as the study progresses.
